Visiting the pool will look different in 2021 due to Covid restrictions, but the season has been planned and developed with the goal of providing a safe and fun experience!
Please become familiar with the updated Pool Rules & Regulations as some things have changed this summer. All patrons are held responsible for knowing and abiding by the pool rules.
HOURS OF OPERATION
May 29 - September 6, 2021
Times vary throughout the season. A complete schedule will be available in May and will be emailed to all members. A general swim schedule is listed below - subject to change.

Limited weekday reservation times will be available while school is still in session.
Memorial Day/Saturday/Sunday: 11:00 am - 8:30 pm (Reservations in 2-hour increments)
Starting June 14
Monday - Friday: 12:00 - 8:30 pm (Reservations available in 2-hour increments)
Saturday/Sunday: 11:00 am - 8:30 pm (Reservations available in 2-hour increments)
A maximum of 75 patrons will be admitted to the pool at one time.
VISITING THE POOL
Every person (ages 0+) visiting the pool must be included in your membership purchase and have their own keytag/card in their name. If you need to update or establish your household account, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Proof of residency required.

A specific caregiver may be added to a family membership. In order to purchase a Babysitter Pass, the babysitter must be added to your household account before purchasing this membership. Complete a Household Information Form to add a babysitter to your account with their name, date of birth, address and phone number. Maximum of 2 babysitter per household.
Six Visit Punch Card
Entitles one person 6 individual visits to the pool. Reservations must be made online at poolisopen.com and key tag/card scanned at time of entry. After 6 visits, membership can be renewed or will be expired.
Royal Oak Section Residents are required to pay the annual $40 facility fee + 25% surcharge in addition to the punch card/babysitter pass purchase.
Reservation are required to visit the pool. After your membership has been purchased, you will be given access to “Poolisopen.com” to reserve your pool time. Reservations will be available in 2 - 2.5 hour increments and can be made up to one week in advance. The pool will close for 30 minutes between reservations for deep cleaning and sanitizing. Cancellations can be made at least 24 hours prior to reserved time.
Each member visiting the pool needs their own key tag/card and must be scanned at the pool desk upon each visit to the pool. Key Tags for new memberships will be available for pick up at the pool desk at your first visit.
THINGS TO NOTE FOR 2021
• Woods Cafe will not be open this season.
• Due to mask requirements, no food may be consumed on the pool deck.
• Guests/daily admissions will not be permitted this season.
• Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated.
• Arrive swim-ready. Wear your suit to the pool to reduce time in locker rooms.
• Social distancing must be maintained in and out of water.
• Face masks must be worn while not in the water.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What if I don’t have a key tag/card?
You were assigned a key tag/card if you had a pool, drop-in gym, pickleball, Lots for Tots or other gym time membership in the past.
If you have misplaced your tag/card, please contact the Rec Center: email@example.com or 248.541.3030, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm to request a replacement ($5 each).
You cannot visit the pool without a tag/card so please do not wait until the last minute to get one.
Will there be swim lessons this summer?
Due to the restricted capacity and time allotments for the pool, there will be no lessons offered.
Will there be Adult Swim?
No, we will not be having Adult Swim this summer.
Can a babysitter bring my kids to the pool?
A Babysitter Pass can be purchased for a caregiver. Families interested in a Babysitter Pass should email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following:
- Family’s name and address
- Babysitter’s name, address, date of birth
A pass and key tag will be assigned to the babysitter. They will be required to show ID at the pool desk when scanning their tag/card. Maximum of 2 babysitters per household.
What if it rains?
In the event of inclement weather, your reservation may be delayed or canceled. The pool will be cleared immediately for thunder or lightning. Patrons will be asked to leave the pool and deck area. Pool will remain closed for 30 minutes after each occurrence of thunder/lightning. If you would like to cancel your reservation due to rain, or other reason, please notify Bridget at email@example.com
When will Fruit Camp be at the pool?
Fruit campers are scheduled to be at the pool on Fridays between 12:00 and 3:00pm. The pool will be closed to the public during that time.
Will the locker rooms be open?
Yes, locker rooms will be open but no more than 2 households should be in a locker room at one time. Please arrive swim-ready to reduce time in locker rooms. Restroom stalls and showers will be blocked off to allow for social distancing.
Will there be swim meets?
There are 6 Hurricane home meets scheduled for the season: June 17, June 21, June 24, June 28, July 1 and July 8.
The general public is not invited to meets this summer due to capacity restrictions.
Will the lap lanes be available for reservation?
Yes, lap lanes will be available to reserve in 1-hour time slots for lap swimming only. 1 person per lap lane unless in the same household, 2 swimmers may share a lane.
