Fruit Camp


The Huntington Woods Fruit Camp Program has been in existence for over 35 years and has maintained the same level of integrity since the beginning - it prides itself on being a creative and outgoing program.  Our program provides your children with a true day camp experience. No electronics, no movies - just good old summer fun.  Fruit Camps are play-based and utilize the Recreation Department’s many fine services and facilities.  Camps feature games, sports, cre­ative recreation, arts and crafts, free swim and more.  Age-appropriate activities are planned for each camp.

In non-COVID times, Fruit Camp boasts over 800 campers, 40 staff members and approx­imately 90 LIT’s (Leaders in Training) each summer. This year, we are very happy to offer Fruit Camp again (after a dark 2020 summer) to our Huntington Woods community. Due to COVID guidelines, the maximum number of available camp spots has been reduced. Based on this, and the general high demand for camp enrollment, a lottery is held for registration.


Camps are designed to meet the needs of a specific age group for an optimal and rewarding experience.  Camps are based on current school year grades - NOT the grade children are entering in the fall. There are no exceptions for age/grade requirements. 


Camp Banana - 3.5 (by 12/1/2020) - 5.5 years and entering Kindergarten in Fall 2021 or 2022, or currently in Transitional Kindergarten.


Camp Watermelon, Kiwi - currently in Kindergarten/1st grade

Camp Honeydew - currently in 2nd/3rd grade

Camp Pineapple - currently in 4th/5th grade

2-week sessions, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - due to COVID restrictions, maximum 2 sessions per camper.

Session A: June 14 - June 25

Session B: June 28 - July 9

BEFORE (BCC) & AFTER CAMP CARE (ACC) - for K-5 Only, not Pre-School

Before Camp Care (7:30 - 9:00 am) and After Camp Care (3:00 - 6:00 pm) are available for each K-5 camp session at an additional cost.  An email with BCC and ACC details will be sent to all registered camper families.


If you are interested in having your child participate in Fruit Camp, please fill out the lottery form for K-5 here or Pre-School here.   Please use one form per child. 

A completed lottery form (and other paperwork, if necessary - see directions) must be emailed to no later than Thursday, March 4th to be included in the lottery.

Once the applications have been re­ceived and inputted into our system, we will begin our lengthy lottery process.  Applications will be drawn in a com­puterized lottery spin.  Applicants will be placed in a session according to the preferences indicated on the reg­istration form.  Applicants wishing to be placed in a second session will be drawn in a second round.  Should a session requested become filled, you will be placed on a waitlist for the already-filled session. Throughout the involved lottery pro­cess you may see “activity” on your HH account that includes what looks like camp placements. Please know that this information is not final. This information is there because your registration form was received and placed in the lottery. The final information about your child’s camp placement will be emailed to you in March.

Don't miss the Lottery!

Residents and grandfathered RO Sec­tion residents who miss the 3/4/2021 lottery deadline may email beginning 3/19 with their desired placement.  Please include name of child, camp, requested number of sessions (2 max), and prioritized session dates.  The child will then be added to the waitlist of the specified camp/session.  After-Lottery submissions will be added to waitlists on a first-come, first-served basis once the Lottery is complete. Due to the small number of campers we are able to have this year, only Huntington Woods/grandfathered RO Section residents can register for Fruit Camp. 


Once you receive an email confirmation of your Fruit Camp placement, a deposit fee will be applied to your account, for each child registered:

K-5 Camps = $200 per session

Pre-School = $80

The deposit must be paid online, via credit or debit card, as soon as you are notified, and no later than 3/15/2021, to secure your camp spot.  If deposit payment is not received by 3/15, your roster spot will be forfeited.


Refunds are available based on this timetable:

Through April 8, 2021 - full refund minus $10 processing fee per camper

April 9 - April 14, 2021 - refund minus $10 processing fee and deposit unless a replacement camper is secured from our waitlist.

After April 15, 2021 - no refunds on any portion of camp unless a re­placement camper is found from our waiting list.


Full payment is due by THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2021

Camp balances not paid in full by this due date can result in forfeiture of your child’s spot in camp.  A late fee of 10% will be applied to all unpaid balances on April 16th.

If full camp payment is not received by April 30, your camp spot will automatically be forfeited. No money paid up to this date will be refunded.


Our camp license requires that all camp forms be completed and turned in prior to your child attending camp. In previous years, the camp direct­ing staff has spent an inordinate amount of time calling families re­questing missing paperwork.

Beginning in 2021 all forms will be online through CampDocs.  This should make it easier for you to complete them (and save trees).  Directions for completing forms will be forwarded after your camp deposit is paid.

ALL camp forms are due on THURSDAY, APRIL 15, 2021 which is the same day final payment is due. If your child’s forms are not completed and submitted by April 15th, your household balance will be charged $25. Even if you are only missing one form, you will be charged the late fee.


Covid protocols will be in place at Fruit Camp and families will be required to adhere to those rules.  Details will be provided at the Camp Parent Zoom meetings on Tuesday, June 1st (K-5) and Wednesday, June 2nd (Pre-School).

As of February 19, 2021 the following protocols are in place:

  • The number of campers per session has been dramatically reduced to stay within the current state guidelines for Covid.
  • Masks will be mandatory for campers and staff.
  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available at every camp tent.
  • Tables will be set up in a way that 6ft social distancing will be in practice during lunch and snack.
  • Indoor restrooms will be available – one person at a time.
  • There will be set times during the day for sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
  • We will only be going to the pool one day per week and it will only be open for camp at that time (no public).
  • Camp staff will have training in Covid protocols including looking for signs of illness and cleaning/sanitizing.
  • We will have a designated room in the Rec. center for when a child does not feel well where they and a staff member will stay waiting to get picked up by a parent.



Avoid late fees by being mindful of the following dates:

March 4: All Camp Lottery forms MUST be emailed to to be in the lottery.

March 15: Last day for registered camper deposit payment.

March 19: Resident After-Lottery registration (in­cludes ROS grandfathered families).  Email with your camp preferences to be put on the waitlist.

April 8: Last day to drop Fruit Camp for a full refund, less a $10 processing fee per camper.

April 9 – April 14: Camps may be dropped, less a $10 processing fee per camper, but your deposit is for­feited, unless a replacement camper is secured from the waitlist.

April 15: All camp forms and balances are due.

1. Full payment and completed forms are due by 11:59 pm.

2. A late fee of 10% will be applied to all unpaid balances after 11:59 pm.

3. A late fee of $25 will be added to your household account if ALL camp forms are not submitted to CampDocs by 11:59 pm.

4. There are no refunds (deposit or tuition) after April 15 unless a replacement camper is secured from our waitlist.
